I admit it, I’m a recovering candle addict. I LOVE for our home to smell so welcoming and inviting. My nose is linked to my emotions for sure….I used to think it was just me that was that way. But I learned that it’s actually a scientific thing and that our limbic part of our brain, where emotions and memories are stored is connected to our olfactory system (which is basically our sense of smell) and that we are GREATLY impacted my smells!!! So today I thought I’d share how I make our home smell AMAZING with essential oils.

I used to be a total candle snob!! Like only bought from a certain company…y’all, these were not the discount store candles. These were super expensive, but I didn’t care because they were best smelling candles EVER!!!!! Trying to create a warm and cozy atmosphere in base housing and constantly striving to make everything fit into these tiny houses….yes, there have been 12 over the years….these familiar smells made it instantly feel like home. I can still walk through the candle section and those housing memories come flooding back.

But what I did learn in the last few years was how toxic candles can be for our bodies. There can be some major junk in them and that artificial fragrance isn’t good for us in so many ways!! In doing this research, I was shocked with what I found out about candles and the fragrance pods that you plug into your walls. Y’all…there were times I had one in every room!!! OMG…what was I thinking!?!?! But again when you know better you do better.

So I ditched it all and replaced them with oils. Y’all, oils are so simple to use!!!! And if you follow me on instagram, I literally diffuse something different every single day!!!!!! As soon as those temps begin to drop just a bit (it was in the 60s this morning!!) I crave my fall blends that have replaced my scented candles (full of yuck toxins that you don’t want to breathe in!). Here are some great dupes!

4 drops Cinnamon

4 drops Ylang Ylang
