More than ever, I think we’ve realized that we are the gatekeepers of our homes. We determine what comes in and what goes out.  Is it toxic…we should ditch it!  Is it safe?  No fragrance?  It can stay!  

After watching the Netflix documentary Stink, I was more convicted than ever to begin doing my own research on what we had in our home that was helping us and what was potentially harming us.  During this time, so much was uncovered and simultaneously we were awakening to some serious health concerns that we were facing.  I knew we had to begin ditching and switching out many of the things that were in our cabinets!  The ick I was looking to get rid of was anything with fragrance, sodium laurel sulfate, dyes, parabens, formaldehyde, and phospates….all of which have been shown to be harmful.  

Was it overwhelming…NO!!!!  It was actually sooooo simple!!!  In fact, my life got A LOT EASIER!!!! And my budget was even happier!!!  Instead of having a TON of different bottles for ALL THE THINGS…I just have a few now for the entire array of household chores.

This stuff is a miracle worker!!!! It is free from all the ick…and let’s be honest, I was addicted to the smell of laundry detergent in my clothes.  Like I wanted to smell like I stepped out of that orange and blue bottle!!  But when I realized that what I was actually smelling in my clothes was a toxic concoction of chemicals that had bonded to my fabric and I was wearing it around on my body all day, everyday…I realized that I needed to figure out a new way of doing laundry.

Think you’ll miss your scrubbing cleaners…nope…not with this good ole classic!!!  You know your grandmother used this and not all that fancy, chemical filled bottled stuff!!  So grab yourself a box and get to scrubbing.  In fact, I’ll give you a few great recipes that uses baking soda!  But I use it to help scrub my cast iron skillets and also our toilets!!!! It’s a great all purpose, non toxic scrubbing agent for those hard to clean tasks!!

Bon Ami 

This stuff has been around since 1886!!  It’s a powder cleaner that has no dyes, perfumes, or chlorine…and is hypoallergenic. I love to mix mine with a little Thieves Household Cleaner for scrubbing the shower!!!! Works like a charm every time!!!!

Lemon Oil

Y’all….this oil is LIFE CHANGING!!!! Not only does it smell yummy in the diffuser and you can put a drop in your water to make it taste yummy….but you can literally brighten your whites in the washing machine, your can take paint off your hands when you’re doing a DIY project and you can remove those pesky, gooey price stickers that always seem to put on the front of mirrors and picture frames!!!!!

Thieves Foaming Hand Soap

This refill bottle lasts FOREVER!!!!! I put a little dab in my foaming dispensers in the bathrooms and kitchen sinks and fill them with water and we are good to go!!!! One refill bottle has made us about 28 hand soaps…. So that’s $1.42 per bottle for a safe, non toxic, germ fighting little bottle of hand soap that I know is helping us and not harming us!!!
