This year, my Senior Team and I are working on a Kindness Campaign in our community. We will be doing an Act of Kindness each month that the team has chosen. Early on, we had a big planning meeting and they had so many great ideas as to how they’d like to make a positive impact in our community. We were blown away by how thoughtful they were and they came up with things that we hadn’t even thought of!!
We were finally able to coordinate it all and create an event for each month. This month, they decided to collect school supplies for their teachers. We all know that teachers spend a TON of their own money in their classrooms!!! So we thought it would be a great idea to help lessen the back to school week a little by having some supplies ready for them as they came in on their first day back.
The team also wrote notes on their dry erase boards welcoming them back…to hopefully put a smile on their faces, knowing that students were excited for school to start back up.
It truly is a small thing to do in the big picture of the school year….but just putting a small smile on the faces of those in your community is good for the soul. I’m so proud of these kids taking a Sunday afternoon to do a kind gesture like this.
We also designed shirts for the team that remind us all to Have Courage. Be Kind. Here’s to kicking off a GREAT new school year where more kids will Have Courage and Be Kind!!!
