Some of you may not know that my educational background is not actually in photography. I was an elementary school teacher for years…with some babies sprinkled in the mix. I taught 4th grade in Iwakuni, Japan for the Department of Defense, I taught 1st grade in Beaufort,SC, and then I taught 4th grade & Kindergarten in NC. When you fall in love with a military man, you have to think about how it will impact your career and life. I was so thankful that I had a career that was “portable” (or so I thought). Little did I know that licensing, continuing educational requirements, and lack of networking would make all these transfers difficult. In the midst of all of these moves and jobs, we landed in the gorgeous islands of Hawaii. Although it was paradise, it was a very hard place to find a full time teaching job for me. But I did what all military spouses have to do…I ADAPTED and overcame the challenge by trying out my entrepreneurial spirit!!
For three and half years, I learned all that I could about photography and business. I soon realized that no matter how great of a photographer you were, if you weren’t an equally savvy business person…you wouldn’t survive, let alone thrive. Those years were an amazing stretch in our journey!!!
I LOVE sharing what I’ve learned with others…it’s the teacher in me. So I’ve decided that 2017 will be the year I combine my two passions…photography and teaching. And I’ll finally be able to show my husband that I can still use that hard earned MEd. in Curriculum & Instruction!!! 🙂
Over the last 9 years and through lots of trial and error, I’ve developed some great systems for success. Last year was all about cutting the fluff for me and really streamlining my workflow and business.
And this year, I’m so excited to meet up with new and established photographers to discuss your specific business questions and needs! We’ll chat about technical aspects, editing in Lightroom, marketing, social media, and anything else you may need help with.
These mentoring sessions will take place on a weekday morning for approx. 4-5 hours. It will include lunch and headshots on or near our Crystal Coast beach of Emerald Isle, NC.
I currently only have 5 dates for mentoring sessions this year. I have one date in March, two in April, and two in May. If you book your date within the next two weeks, I’m offering a 10% discount.
If you’re interested in reserving a mentoring date, please contact me at [email protected] or 808-343-5335
