I LOVE a good image…one that tells a story or grabs my audience!!
When shooting, I’m often thinking about the art work I’ll produce for my amazing clients. The composition for a canvas gallery wrap or senior wallets is always on the forefront of my mind….however, I also think about how I can use the images for marketing purposes as well. For instance, I recently did some fun beach shots with my Senior Team back before the holidays. I knew I wanted them to be filled with fun and excitement because I’d want to use them for announcing when my 2018 Senior Team applications were opening. I wanted jumping shots, serious ad campaign shots (think Hollister or Ralph Lauren), and fun laughing shots. I also knew that I’d want to shoot them wide (meaning lots of negative space around them) so that I could go back in and add text when I was ready to post. Just a little planning ahead can bring big results for your business.
I am always on the hunt for ways to increase my productivity. To be honest, I don’t like photoshop…actually, I don’t even own it!! GASP!!!! I know…I’m crazy…right?!?!! But I have found a really cool site that I love!!! It’s called Canva. I use it for everything from creating my Senior Magazine to creating instagram posts or facebook ads. I’ve tried numerous apps on my phone to add text but I always go back to canva.com.
And best part….it has a mobile version!!! Success!! 🙂
I am not a graphic artist and what other people seem to do at the speed of light…often takes me hours. Ya’ll, I didn’t have the internet in high school….HELLO OLD SCHOOL!!!! Once I master something though, I’ve got it. I often found myself searching for really awesome tools because there is a lot of stuff that isn’t user friendly or isn’t as customizable as I’d like.
One day, the Heavens open and Canva came into my life. The website is www.canva.com It also has a mobile version that you can download on your phone.
Canva is free to download on your phone, but there are in-app purchases if you choose a template that isn’t free. I typically use the free templates, but I have paid for a few.
For the record, I am not paid by canva to promote their product, I just like to share great finds with my friends. So now you know how I create awesome text overlays on my images that I use in my business.
Go try it out!!
Let me see what you create…tag me!! 🙂
Blessings,
Corry
