A twist of fate brought our families together….we knew this sweet family when we were all stationed in Beaufort, SC back in 2003. Casey and our Grace met in Mrs. Satterfield’s kindergarten class at Galer Elementary. They became fast friends and went to each other’s birthday parties and had playdates. I have a pic of Casey making a jack-o-lantern at Grace’s 6th birthday party. Now flash forward to 2011 when we were living in Hawaii…I got in contact with Casey’s mom Cathy through facebook because I knew they were stationed at Camp Lejeune and I wanted some school, neighborhood, and housing info because we had just received orders to Camp Lejeune. Cathy was super helpful and when Kevin visited, he picked out the neighborhood we’d build in….much to my surprise, when I wrote to Cathy to ask about the specifics of this neighborhood….she said they were building in the exact same neighborhood!!! Annnnndddd….wait for it….we ended up choosing lots right next to each other!!! What the what?!?!!?! So funny to end up together again after all these years!! Our Marine Corps world truly is a small one, and it’s such a blessing!
It has been great having the Carrolls as next door neighbors…and to watch our girls grow into young women who are ready to tackle the world! They have seen each other through their Daddies’ deployments, surgeries, heartbreak, and celebrations. I can’t wait to see what life has in store for Casey! She is a fiesty, headstrong young lady who lives life with passion and determination. She tackles any obstacle with grit and hard work…and that will take her far in life!
Much love and many blessings,
Miss Corry
