I get a little bit of God everyday in my inbox….Proverbs 31 is an amazing ministry for women. They have a wonderful group of ladies that travel the country for speaking engagements, they write amazing devotionals, and they are led by the wonderful Lysa Terkeurst. I had never heard of Lysa Terkeurst until I attended the MOPS national convention with my dear friends. We were all moms who ran our local Moms of Preschoolers group who traveled to Orlando to be fed, be inspired, and to bring great ideas back to our group. Lysa is an amazing speaker and sister in Christ! I have plugged into her ministry and been uplifted ever since. I look forward to my daily note from Proverbs 31’s ministry. It always seems to be God’s voice speaking right into my life.
A recent morning’s scriptures were:
1 Corinthians 15:58b, “Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.” (MSG)
John 15:16a, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you …” (NIV)
These two verses spoke right to my heart. Our creative industry and social media often lend themselves to the comparison monster. You look around and see so many talented people doing amazing work. You see photographers who have risen to a national level that lead conferences and fly all over the country for speaking engagements. It is natural to sometimes sink into the “how can I get there…” and the “I wish…”!!
But today’s scripture reminded me that what I am doing right now is so important. He CHOSE me and APPOINTED me for this time and this place in my life!!! What I am doing now matters so much!!
I almost laughed when I read it the other day, because it reminded me of something that happened a little over a month ago. I was doing a Senior Portrait session for an fabulous young lady. We were chasing that last bit of sunlight down by the water when we pulled up to a small but popular park and fishing spot in our little town. I saw that there were several people already down there fishing. Much to my surprise…..it was four of my Senior Alumni!!!!!!! I was soooooo excited!!!! It was like a little CFP reunion. 🙂
As I tried to finish up my shooting, chat with the client’s mom, and pack up my stuff….I was a little overwhelmed with emotion when I thought about how much these kiddos mean to me. For this is what I’ve been appointed to do, and it is such a blessing! I captured who they were at that very moment…their beauty, their bravery, their personalities. We froze time during a great year in their life. And they were instrumental in helping me build my business….I am forever grateful for their trust and confidence in my work. But most importantly, we have a special bond and I feel blessed to know these amazing young people!! They have all started college now and a new chapter in their lives. They are spreading their wings and taking on great adventures. I am so proud of them all!! And I am thankful that God has placed me here on this exact path!!!
Blessings,
Miss Corry
PS….College Freshmen….be looking for CFP care packages in the next few weeks! They are being packaged right now. 🙂
