Oh my gracious…I LOVE Senior Model Teams soooooo much!!!! Senior Model Teams Can Grow Your Business!! I get asked all the time about how to create and grow a Senior Photography business and my first tip is to start with a Senior Team. There are so many ways to organize them, to market them, and to utilize them…but just start!!!! I started out with only four Seniors my first year…that was 7 years ago!!! Since then, I’ve had teams of 8, 13, 22, and even back to just a handful. The key is to simply start small and build it. You don’t have to have 200 applicants and a team of 50 kiddos to be successful….you just need a few to get you started, to get your name out there, to build the marketing campaigns, and to build relationships with Seniors and with their parents.
The key to successful Senior Model Teams is to create an experience for the Seniors as well as the parents…mainly, the moms. Include them in all that you do…and they will be your biggest cheerleaders. We always invite the moms along to our shoots. We need them to drive often times as I like to minimize the amount of cars we take with us to team shoots, and I also ask them to help carry bags, schlep snacks, and they are also there capturing BTS shots of us working. Then they usually post images of the fun we’ve had, they chat with all the other moms while we are there and they begin building that client network that is truly priceless! Once, I did a beach shoot with my new team and as we started shooting, there wasn’t a lot for the moms to really help with. I look over, and they are all lined up sitting down the beach from us chatting and enjoying the salt air and sea breeze. One mom said to me as we were leaving, “Thank you so much for this! I just needed some time to sit and be still! It was such a joy to watch you work with these kids!” Y’all….that goes farther than any Facebook ad ever could!! Cherish these moms and the season they are currently in, honor it, love them through it, and make special memories with them. Tap into the power of the moms network and you will see your Senior Business grow!!
As for creating an experience for the Seniors, make an impact with your shoots!!! Get creative, partner up with amazing venues, and ask the Seniors for ideas!! We’ve done a destination shoot to DC where we took a tour the
White House and the Presidential Helicopters (thanks to my hubby’s awesome job), we’ve
travelled and hiked to fall locations with waterfalls and stone bridges, we’ve done beach
shoots on the pier, and we’ve even done a Flight Line shoot with Marine Corps fighter jets!!!
Talk about sharing AMAZING experiences with my Senior Team!!! And we don’t live in an exciting area…ok well some of that sounds exciting…but we are literally in a tiny coastal NC town without a cityscape nearby or huge parks and super pretty spots around every corner. We have utilized what we do have and we’ve traveled to other locations. The key has been in making memories and thinking outside of the box!!!
