We began on this journey of ridding our home of toxic chemicals a while back. Our endocrine systems are crappy and we are working hard to combat the ramifications of that fact.

One of the main ways we are doing this is by getting rid of the toxic chemicals in our home that I was cleaning with and using on the items that go in or on our bodies.

Chemicals can be huge endocrine disruptors. And like I said before, we don’t need any more disrupting than we are already dealing with.

I read a study recently and the results were alarming, especially in regards to the chemicals in our dryer sheets, laundry detergents, and cleaning products. These are laden with chemicals to make our clothes and homes smell nice, but then they are put on our skin or we breathe them in and they are quite harmful. I highly encourage you to research this for yourself. You can start by watching the documentary Stink on Netflix. This was a real eye opener for us as well!!!

Some of the things we’ve done to help eliminate the chemicals and support our bodies better:

~switched to Thieves all purpose cleaner (we use this on our granite, our wood floors, our bathrooms, and our mirrors and glass)

~ditched the dryer sheets and instead use wool dryer balls and essential oils

~don’t use plastic water bottles

~ditched candles and instead diffuse oils

~ditched plug-in fragrances

~switched to Thieves laundry detergent that doesn’t coat our clothing with chemicals

~ditched toxic air freshners and sprays and instead we make our own

~ditched the bug repellent that contains harmful chemicals and now we make our own (and living in the south…y’all know we NEED to keep the bugs away!!)

I highly encourage to do just a little research into what types of things you have in your home that could be harmful. We thought we were doing so great…and then I got the Think Dirty app (just download it and your eyes will truly be opened). I started looking at our shampoos, our dishwashing soap, our facial products, our makeup…y’all I was mortified at the chemicals that our government allows in the products we use daily on ourselves and our families. And even though it’s hard, and I’m not 100% there yet….I’ve vowed that now that I know better, I must DO BETTER!!!!!
