Hey y’all….I get all sorts of camera questions about cameras…and while I am by no means know everything and do it all the “right” way…I can help you with the basics. I so enjoy helping people figure out their cameras and help them get great results!!
When it comes to camera cards…my biggest tip is to take great care of them and store them appropriately!! I like the Lexar compact cards personally for my Canon Mark III 5d. But I always keep them in their case and travel with them like that as well.
I also reformat the cards each time I put them in my camera. This is a way to get all the images deleted and the card ready for new images. But don’t delete images unless you have them backed up in a few places. In fact, I don’t reformat my cards until the session has been uploaded, edited, backed up, and then stored online. I’m a nervous Nelly!!
Deleting them in camera is not a good idea…reformatting them is the best way to make sure it’s ready to go for the next time you’re ready.
As part of my workflow, I don’t take the card out of the camera to upload the images, I simply plug in my camera to the computer. I typically don’t have multiple cards from a session… like you might from a wedding…so it’s super fast and easy for me to just plug up the camera and it’s one less time the card has an opportunity to lose any data or be damaged.
Please let me know if you guys have any questions….here is the FB Live that I did where I talked about camera cards…
