Hi, friend!  I'm Corry.

This one goes out to all my high school friends and their parents…actually if I’m being honest…the moms.  hahahaha

If you are a high school sophomore or junior, you should be creating a list of your activities and achievements.  This is known as a resume.  If you take the time to create a simple document, you’ll have it on file and can update it as you participate in new activities.

When our daughter Grace was a freshman, we created a basic resume and updated it each semester.  If you don’t keep up with all the activities you are involved in, you’re likely to forget something.  A teacher at her school helped her format it and we just kept it updated.

As it came time for college applications and then later scholarship applications, it was super easy to pull up the file and use it as a reference for filling everything out.  I can promise you that when you come to that time in your Senior year….it’s overwhelming!  There’s so much to do, deadlines to meet, and you’re still doing tons of school work and those ever important extra curricular activities. By pulling up that simple document, Grace was able to easily knock out the applications.  Several even asked her to attach a resume.  I told her they were looking for real life skills like resume writing.  She had an impressive resume and it looked amazing!!  She even got a few “good jobs” and “wow, you’re quite an accomplished young lady” comments from interviewers and through emails.  It did look impressive because she had worked hard and because it was all there in a well organized format.

I’m including a rough template of what we used for Grace’s resume. I’ve deleted all of her info and left the shell for you to copy and paste in your own document.  Keep it saved on your desktop and update it often.  You’ll be so glad you did!!!
