Hi, friend!  I'm Corry.

Let’s talk about Brand Photography | Billie Durkin

I recently had a potential client reach out who is a total badass!! She’s a young professional in the Wake Forest, NC area who is launching a side hustle called Lavish Rose Events which is a super fancy backyard picnic company. It’s so perfect for bridal luncheons, baby showers, girls’ nights in, outdoor movie parties…you name it, Billie has a themed party idea!!

Billie is so dang fun and her creative spark blew me away!!!!  I was so impressed with her creativity and her attention to detail…in our afternoon of shooting, she set up 6 or 7 table scapes in like 2 hours…it was so crazy and soooo good!!!!

When she first reached out, I asked how she found me because she lives 2 hours away.

“Google!!” was her immediate response.  Y’all…if you aren’t creating long for content that isn’t just existing on social media, we need to talk!!!

That’s a separate blog post…but I optimize my blog posts for SEO as best I can…I’m not an expert by any means…and I may be doing it all wrong…but I get lots of clients who say they found me on google!!!!

But I digress….

So I started my usual questions when someone inquires about working together and I asked her all about her business and she said that she hadn’t actually started it yet because brand photos were top on her list of things she needed to do before her official launch!!!

What?!?!?!

Wow I was impressed!!!

She decided that brand photography was going be top on her business launching investment list.

Billie knew that in order to have a successful launch, she had to have imagery that called in the right clients.  While iphone pictures are good, having a brand photographer come in to capture the entire scene, the details, and her working in her business…she was going to need a photographer.

Starting a business takes money.  There are things that you need to establish as you get started that all have a price tag on them. The key is to prioritize what you need most to what can wait until revenue begins to roll in.  And as a new business owner, you get to decide where to spend those start up budgeting dollars!!!  Instead of investing in cute office supplies…no one needs a pink stapler to start a business…or a brand new laptop…she chose branding images as one of her top investments.

And she was so right in doing so!!

I always say that you need a website to get started…which means you need imagery, copy (written by you, a friend, or a hired copywriter), and your brand suite…you know, colors, fonts, logos. This website is like hanging your shingle out and saying “I am OPEN for business” to the world. It’s where people can find you and see how they can work with you.

Then you need to begin building that social media presence. This is where you get to showcase what it looks like to work with you or buy from you.

None of it has to be perfect…just get it started!!!

Here are a few more reasons why having professional brand images before you launch your business or even do a brand refresh can make a HUGE difference in your success!!

1. Don’t Stay Hidden in the Backstage

Launching a business can feel like staying behind the curtains in a theater performance. You’ve got a fantastic show to put on, but if the audience can’t see you, it’s all for nothing. By scheduling a brand photoshoot before the grand opening, you get a chance to step into the spotlight. Having a collection of fabulous photos means you’re  no longer a backstage crew member; you’re the star of the show, ready to take the stage and shine in the spotlight!

2. First Impressions Stick, Like Glitter on a Crafts Enthusiast

When people stumble upon a new business, it’s like finding a random piece of glitter on your clothes – it sticks! Billie’s  pre-launch photoshoot allowed her to craft a magnetic first impression. Just like glitter catches the eye, stunning brand visuals grab attention, and they stick around in the minds of potential customers. So, when her business officially hits the scene, it will be like people discovering a sparkly gem!!

3. The Confidence Boost That Rivals a Pumpkin Spice Latte

Launching a business can be intimidating, like trying to order a complicated coffee at the trendy cafe. I still stick to my tried and true or what’s on the menu in front of me because I can’t remember what those TikTok-ers told me to order!!  But with a batch of fantastic brand photos in her pocket, Billie could strut into the business world with the confidence of someone who orders a Pumpkin Spice Latte iced macchiato oatmilk grande like a pro. High-quality visuals not only make her brand look impressive but also make her feel like a total boss. And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to tackle the entrepreneurial world with that kind of confidence?

Booking a brand photoshoot before launching or refreshing a business isn’t just a smart move; it’s a sprinkle of stardust on the entrepreneurial journey. It’s like turning on the light, making a memorable impression, and sipping on confidence-boosting lattes all at once! Billie definitely had the right idea!!!
