One of the very first things that we ditched when we started looking at the toxins in our home was the laundry icks. We ditched the scent boosting pellets, the laundry detergent, and the dryer sheets. All of those chemicals were not good for us and it was time for a change. But….you say you like for your laundry to smell nice…(raising hand) ME TOO!!!! I’m actually obsessed with things smelling good…so I set out on a mission to find safe alternatives.
I recently saw this recipe and I made some up for myself. I’ve used it a few times but thought I’d share it with you now so that you can try it out and let me know what you think too.
In a glass jar, combine equal parts epsom salt and baking soda.
Then add 20 (or more) drops of your favorite essential oil…you could do lavender, lemon, lemongrass, eucalyptus, basically anything that would smell great with your laundry. Then give it a good shake and add a little to each load of laundry when you put it in the washing machine. Just play with it and see how much you think you need. 🙂
(and make sure you only use the GOOD essential oils…not the store bought that may fave fillers and fragrance in them)
