For Our Seniors…
I’ve been making my morning walks with Molly a prayer walk. I’m reading a wonderful book called “Draw the Circle” by Mark Batterson. It’s a 40 Day Prayer Challenge. A dear friend gave it to me a few weeks ago and there are three of us ladies reading it together. It has been a huge blessing!
I have to say that my prayer life has been a little sporadic lately. I’m not typically one who asks God for things. I like to thank Him for my blessings and I shoot a lot of little “arrow prayers”….like “God please don’t let me lose my temper right now…”. But recently, I’ve needed a little nudge to reenergize my prayer life.
Molly and I listen to Christian music on Pandora as we go on our prayer walks…and I don’t put ear buds in because somehow I need to hear the birds, the wind, and God all at the same time.
As we started out this morning, I asked God to speak to my heart about some things I’ve been struggling with and that I’ve watched others struggle with.
High School Seniors popped right into the forefront of my mind. I’m watching so many of our local teens making BIG decisions for their lives. They’re chasing dreams…some are being fulfilled and some are being crushed. As an adult with the benefit of having had extra time at this game called life (yes, with wisdom brings age….and vice versa hahahahaha) I want to shout it from the roof top….these yes’s and no’s are not the end….they are only the beginning!!!
These Yes’s don’t mean the work is over…it’s really just beginning. You are crossing the threshold into the real world. It will be tough, you will work hard, but the victory will be sweet.
And sometimes a No is really a “not yet”. Sometimes a No is really a “that’s not my plan for your life”. Sometimes a No is really a “MY plan for you is far greater than what you’ve imagined”!
Please don’t let the No’s crush your spirit. Place your heart and spirit in the hands of the one who knows you better than you know yourself.
As I was praying for you all….the song “Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns came on and I literally giggled because the words ring so true to the prayer that had just been on my lips.
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I’m in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He’s holding out His hand
You all are about to walk out into this world…way out of your comfort zones. But You’ve Got This, and God’s GOT YOU!!!
But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. “Boy, you’ll never win!”
“You’ll never win!”
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid!”
The voice of truth says, “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Please don’t listen to the voices of self doubt, confusion, and stress in your minds.
In his book, Mark Batterson writes, “Sometimes God will push us to our absolute limits- the limits of our faith, of our patience, of our gifts. Don’t lose heart. Don’t lose hope. Don’t lose faith. Don’t lose patience. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking.”
So for those of you who may be struggling or seeking direction or discerning big decisions in your life right now….hang in there. And I encourage you to say a little prayer when making these decisions. Trust your gut…it’s really the Holy Spirit whispering in your ear. God will guide the way if you’ll let Him.
Blessings,
Mrs. Corry
