I LOVE our TT group of small business owners! I have never had been part of a group of photographers or GirlBosses (and one fella…Humberto, I couldn’t leave you out!) that I could lean on while growing my business. We understand the struggles, the challenges, the goals, and the successes! It’s great to be part of a group full of cheerleaders. The Rising Tide Society is our national organization that began the Tuesdays Together meetups. Natalie and Krista (along with their husbands) were searching for a group of people in their town of Annapolis to form a community of support instead of an environment of competition. Out of this idea grew The Rising Tide Society. I had the pleasure of meeting Natalie at a conference this past spring…we actually ate dinner together and were able to chat extensively about how many people have been helped, encouraged, and celebrated through this movement that sprang from a desire to have a community of like-minded hard workers that would support and cheer each other on.

Recently, The Rising Tide asked all of their TT groups worldwide (yes, I did say worldwide…it’s amazing how fast it has grown in one year’s time!!) to submit a styled shoot that represents their group. A styled shoot is one where you set a theme and then create a tablescape, have models, and style the setting. Since our group is comprised of mostly military spouses or people that are somehow tied to the military, we decided to incorporate Camp Lejeune into our styled shoot. We then realized that Camp Lejeune began in 1941, so we thought it would be cool to use the 1940’s as our “style”. We were also asked to submit a group shot of our participants that also came “styled” for our theme. Can I just say that it was a GREAT night of fun, laughter, and of course shooting. What happens when you get a bunch of photographers together with our cameras and models…um…we SHOOT!!! So. Much. Fun!!!! We also ate the AMAZING cake that Melissa created.

No matter what your talent, career, hobby, or interests are…I encourage you to find a group that also enjoys those things. I have learned so much from these ladies (and Humberto)!! Instead of it being nasty, petty, or competitive, we’ve found a way to be supportive, encouraging, and celebratory of each other’s successes!! I pray that you too find that in your life…everyone needs a #tribe!!!!
