Can I just say that I LOVE this family!!! We go way back with the Ragsdales!! Like Parris Island way back…..oh my golly it seems like it was forever ago~ Kevin and Chuck worked together while Kevin was on his second tour on the Drill Field. Our last year there, Kevin was the Regimental Drill Master after he left DI School. Chuck was on quota and was the “lucky” one to get to work with Kevin. These two were in charge of setting up and conducting Boot Camp Family Day and Recruit Graduation every week. Basically, they barked orders at everyone….hahahahaha!! Okay, maybe it was Kevin barking orders!! In fact, as we were hiking out to the beach, Chuck and I laughed about how Kevin thought he owned the island. Kevin would park the golf cart somewhere that clearly said no parking and Chuck would say “Um, Gunny, we can’t park here.” Kevin would scoff and say, “We’re Regiment Ragsdale…we can park anywhere. Come on!” In fact, one time he called Chuck up and told him to go replace the General’s parking sign…Kevin had moved it while at the Parade Deck so he could park there quickly. OMG…the stories we could tell!!!
Amy and I survived this tour with lots of blood, sweat, and tears. We leaned on each other a lot…it’s what DI wives do because our husbands are not around much. We not only survived, but we thrived! We all left with our marriages intact and have served the Marine Corps for many more years! So when we were able to meet up again here in NC, I was THRILLED!!!!!! It’s sad that our hubbies have been so busy with work that we haven’t been able to get our families together….but that date is coming soon!!!! We promised!!!
It was such a blessing to be able to spend the evening with this sweet family! I was able to meet sweet Payton and precious Jade. Taylor had been a baby way back in Beaufort, so it was nice to meet the new Ragsdales!!!! We had so much fun and these kiddos were gems!! They played, they giggled, and have the best manners!
Thank you again for allowing me to capture this special time in your lives!!
Many blessings,
Corry
