Funny how they say our Marine Corps family is so small…you know, we always say “see ya later” instead of “goodbye”. That totally happened with this amazing family!!! We were stationed together in Hawaii way back in the 2008-2011 time frame….after 24 years of MC life….the years run together a little for me. 🙂 The Base Chapel at MCBH is where we first met the Keefers. Katherine and I were in bible study together and I used to watch her sing in the praise band during Sunday morning worship and tears would come to my eyes. She truly has the voice (and face) of an angel!! As I got to know Katherine through our women’s bible study, I knew she was a woman after God’s own heart. You know how you meet people and they radiate God’s love…yeah, that’s Katherine!! Funny how God always has a plan and when we look back at our path we can see His hand in it. Flash forward to 2013 (I think) and one morning as we are getting ready to worship in our little Contemporary service in our small coastal NC town, I look up on the stage and there stands the beautiful Katherine!!! How, wait, what?!?!?!! Oh yeah, the Marine Corps and God always have a hand in our lives. I went right up to her after the service and we instantly remembered each other. Those “Hey don’t I know you” conversations are always the best….right along with the “Were you guys stationed in _________ during _______ time frame?” Hahahahaha
Time passed and our teenage daughter tried out for the praise band as a vocalist….Grace has LOVED every minute of singing and worshipping the Lord!!! Katherine has been instrumental in helping Grace do her very best every Sunday morning. She has boosted Grace’s confidence and cheered her on. Grace used to watch “that pretty girl” sing at the base chapel on K-Bay and now she shares a stage with her in NC. God truly has the greatest plans…
So thank you sweet Keefer family for spending a lovely Saturday evening with me on the beach!! Your girls are so precious…hilarious….and beautiful!!!! I could feel the love oozing throughout our session…and I think it was beautifully captured. Enjoy!!
